![]() ![]() Where did you get that idea?ģ) Er, no, that's really exactly the same on a keyboard as it is on a controller. Why would you have to map whole combos to single keys? A controller achieves combos by chaining together button presses, m+k can easily do the same. On the other hand, if I need to look or turn around quickly, the mouse is vastly superior to the controller, though some games dedicate one of the precious few controller buttons to that function, and many games have some form of ranged weapon that controller users have to use a clumsy lock-on system for or suffer from slow, imprecise movement while m+k allows effortless free aiming.Ģ) Absolutely not. You never need to rotate the camera by more than 22,5°. You don't have to rotate it far to get the whole range of movement, because m+k doesn't have just four directions, but eight. Again, easier to do on a controller.ġ) There are so many buttons in easy reach on a keyboard or mouse that having one button switch between walking and running is easily possible (heck, some games waste two buttons on three forms of movement because we have that luxury), and 360° movement is easily obtained by turning the camera with the mouse, just like you said. On a keyboard, you have to map whole combos to certain keys and become a touch-typing contorntionist.ģ) A lot of controls in some platformers or action games have differences between pushing the button and releasing, or holding it. These are ifinitely easier to pull off with a controller. ![]() With an analog stick, you have 360 degrees of movement.Ģ) A lot of 3rd person action games rely on fast-paced combos. You usually have to rotate the camera to move in a different direction. Also, WSAD only lets you move in 4 directions. You usually have to press two keys at once on keyboard to switch between walking and running. WSAD are binary, they are either pressed or they aren't, so things like slowly moving forward or walking are difficult to do. Originally posted by Unwerth:I generally agree that certain control methods are better for certain genres, but I just don't get why controllers are supposed to be better than keyboard and mouse for 3rd person action games and platformers.A few reasons:ġ) Because of analog stick precision. CS:GO and skyrim are the only 2 games I think does it right for keyboard controls this is what puts me off playing witcher 2+3 and the majority of 3rd person games. I hate pc ports with horrible, poorly thought out controls. another decent controller is really expensive for just a single game. The xbox controller is disgustingly inprecise and almost as uncomfortable as using the keyboard. If you are an avid PC gamer, you owe it to yourself to pickup an wired Xbox controller for games like this. ![]() Insisting on just using one control scheme because you are on PC is silly. 3rd person action games or platformers are best with a game controller. FPS and RTS games are best with a mouse and keyboard. Some games are better with certain controllers - that's just a fact. We have the ability to plug an Xbox controller directly into our PC's and just have it work. Maybe one of these days I might just have to buy a cheap wired 360 controller to use as a gamepad for pc for games that require them, or that work better with a controller.Originally posted by Deadpool710:*Insert Platform War bullcrap here* No need for a platform war. And I guess I did the same exact thing with the PS4, I bought the system that cost cheaper - wasn't going to pay that 500+ for a console and plus didn't want that stupid kinect thing.īut like I said in my post above, I liked playing it with a controller since it feels better and works better - but the issue I have is when I see the "X" button prompt, my mind/hand then like automatically wants to press the Playstation's "X" and not the "Square" button that is equivelent to the Xbox's "X" and what kind of makes it worse is the xbox one's "X" is blue, the same color as the Playstation's "X" Yeah I get where you are coming from, see I was always a playstation person, excect when the 360 came out then I purchased that since it was a lot cheaper then the PS3. i agree with you its so difficult to get used with xbox 360 controller but 360 controller is way better than ps controller for me except for fighting games,i have never had ps2-3-4 and xbox in my life except ps1 buttons where I used to play when i was a kid. Since trying to win those last stands are difficult, since when it would say "X" I would press the ps4's "X" and not "Square". but it has the damn xbox one controllers and that just didn't work so I will stick with keyboard/mouse. Originally posted by Panicsferd:I originaly had mordor on my console (ps4) since I figured a hack and slash game would be better then the controller, I decided to buy the GOTY version during the summer slae (never had GOTY version on ps4) and was gonna use my ps4 controller to play. ![]()
